接近英格蘭北界的卡萊爾,是當初羅馬人防禦蘇格蘭民族的重點城市
Carlisle, the city next to the northen line of England, was a roman city to defend other folks from Scotland




市區本身相當小,景點也少了許多
City itself is quite small and lack of sights
除了卡萊爾城與大教堂外,沒有其他亮眼的特色,不過在交通上作為據點仍是個不錯的選擇
Except the castle and main church, there's no other spotlights, but because of its convenience of transportation it's still suitable as a travel base
然而卡萊爾城憑藉古羅馬的歷史,看似雄偉,其實內部並沒有太多實質的內涵
However, Castle Carlisle seems great from outside, but inside there's nothing special
除非對古碉堡特別有愛的人,否則強烈建議省下入門費多吃份炸魚薯條吧......
Unless you're so interested in old strongholds, otherwise I would recommend you to save the ticket for an extra Fish & Chips...

哈德良長城

大部份造訪卡萊爾的旅客們,其目標都是英格蘭的北界,也就是古羅馬人所建的哈德良長城
Most of the travellers in Carlisle are heading to the Hadrian's Wall
哈德良長城由西邊的卡萊爾,一直延伸至東邊的新堡,並有專門小巴停靠中途各點,但是淡季時班次就會相當少
It starts from Carlisle to Newcastle. There's also shuttle bus between all the sights, but it's not frequent during off peak season
著名的Housesteads羅馬古要塞,值得一看,然而若是考量入場費,也可以只選擇停靠免費的健行景點
The famous Housesteads Roman Fort is worth taking a look; however, if you don't want to pay the ticket, you can also choose to alight for other free wandering paths
天氣許可的情況下,爬上至高點可以同時看到向遠處不斷延伸的長城以及一望無際的綠色原野
When the weather allows, you are able to climb to the highest hill to see the long ancient wall and green fields, which continue until the horizon
就算對人文古蹟沒興趣的人,也能夠享受大自然的風光
Even the people who aren't interested in human heritages could enjoy the natural views
